Avian Influenza Viruses

Several High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) viruses of the H5N1 and H7N2 strains which were isolated from bird species in Vietnam, China, Cambodia and Turkey have been genetically modified to generate Low Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (LPAI) strains. These strains are intended for use in vaccines and assay development.

VIRAPUR grows and tests these unique viruses in our state-of-the-art, USDA inspected, BSL-2 enhanced and BSL-3 areas. We can incorporate LPAI viruses in your assays or screen your drugs for antiviral activity. Antigen is also available. In the United States, only laboratories which have been inspected by the USDA for the appropriate containment equipment and procedures are given permits to work with these agents.
